What is Hypnotherapy? Hypnosis is a state of altered consciousness that happens to everyone. In Hypnotherapy you reach a state of deep relaxation. You remain fully aware of your surroundings during a Hypnotherapy session. Hypnotherapy is not the same as sleep, or an anaesthetic. You don't pass out, you are not unconscious nor do you lose control over your mind or your feelings. In Hypnotherapy, it is usual to feel very relaxed, at ease, and you may well enjoy deep peace of mind. Hypnotherapy uses the conscious mind (is the part of your mind that rationalises, thinks, analyses, judges and makes decisions) and the subconscious part of the system (controls the natural intelligence of the body and stores behaviour patterns and memories - good and bad!
